September 25 – We woke up REFRESHED! Yes, that was an amazing night of sleep in a bed for sure. We slept in, showered, got our stuff together and packed, and then loaded up the car. We walked over to the lobby and had a great breakfast (passed on the beef tongue though) and embarked on the next day of our adventure! There was A LOT going on today, and our first “scheduled” stop was in Jökulsárlón… Continue reading Hofn to Vik
September 24 – We woke up and were on the road early. The overnight rain made for a very peaceful sleep, but we were both thinking the car camping was getting a bit… old. I’m 6′-3″ and even with the front seats pushed forward it was very roomy. Our Suburu Forester was nice, and setting up the “bed” wasn’t bad at first, but we’re still sleeping IN A CAR.
September 23 – Today was another big travel day, but not because of time.
THERE’S SO MUCH TO SEE!!!
We had a rough idea of what we were doing this day, but our mantra was (and remains, I think), let’s wing it and see where we end up! Continue reading Mývatn to Seyðisfjörður
September 22 – Big travel day. We were driving from Stykkishólmur to Mývatn so we knew we had to get moving. We got up and it was still a bit rainy, but not terrible. We packed up and drove off, heading toward the parking lot near the docks. Continue reading Stykkishólmur to Mývatn
September 21 – We were up fairly early and ready to get our adventure started. The place was very comfortable so we got good sleep. AirBnB Melás 9

First thing was first… COFFEE. Continue reading We’re in ICELAND!
Here’s our trip wrap-up from last week.
A bit long, but if any of it helps here I figure I’d post it. I tried to remember all the details. Having Dexter to lean on at times was, for me, the most important thing about the whole trip.
Without her I may have tapped out in Piseco. She said the same about me, so maybe having at least one other person along will help. The trail can be a mental chess game at times (OMG, ARE WE CLOSE YET???), so support was, for us, essential. So this is just from our POV….
Trip to Denali National Park, Alaska
July 26th – August 3rd 2015
Sunday, Day 1 – Got into Anchorage at 1:45pm but had to wait for the shuttle. I walked around looking for an AAA representative but couldn’t find one, so I called the number I had and left a message. Aaron called me and apologized for forgetting me and a shuttle would be there close to 4pm. It wasn’t a problem, the airport was cool. I got picked up by Matt (guide) and there were two other people in there. We went to Susitna Place and checked in. Continue reading Off to Denali
My first hike trying to get ready for Denali. I went an bought all the gear, so now I need to try it out!
Heading down from my quick trip up Giant Mountain I ran into a guy that asked “Did you do Rocky Peak Ridge?” Um… no. What the hell is that?
So he explains “It was right there. Then you could have done two today.” Continue reading Giant Mountain, May 2015
