September 24 – We woke up and were on the road early. The overnight rain made for a very peaceful sleep, but we were both thinking the car camping was getting a bit… old. I’m 6′-3″ and even with the front seats pushed forward it was very roomy. Our Suburu Forester was nice, and setting up the “bed” wasn’t bad at first, but we’re still sleeping IN A CAR.
September 22 – Big travel day. We were driving from Stykkishólmur to Mývatn so we knew we had to get moving. We got up and it was still a bit rainy, but not terrible. We packed up and drove off, heading toward the parking lot near the docks. Continue reading Stykkishólmur to Mývatn→

Aaron called me and apologized for forgetting me and a shuttle would be there close to 4pm. It wasn’t a problem, the airport was cool. I got picked up by Matt (guide) and there were two other people in there. We went to Susitna Place and checked in. Continue reading Off to Denali→
I stopped being afraid recently. Afraid of money, of people, of change. No, I wasn’t an introvert, but I was content. And then…
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, starring Ben Stiller, changed my life. If you haven’t seen it, do! There’s a scene in which Walter runs to a waiting helicopter and jumps on while David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” is playing, and that did it. I decided to jump on as many helicopters as I could.
Within a week I had deemed Iceland would take too long to prepare for, so I booked a week-long trip to Alaska and hike in Denali. Looks like I have some shopping, work-outs, and planning to do!
